al Fiume Italian Riverside Restaurant

al Fiume – Italian for ‘at the river’ – has all the ingredients for a great restaurant: a beautiful setting with a shady wooden deck built around indigenous tress, expansive lawns on the banks of the Hennops River and a restaurateur with a passion for food and the experience to ensure outstanding levels of service. The restaurant serves food that lives up to the definition of quality: the season’s best, cooked with skill and passion and presented with the minimum of fuss. Al Fiume is open 7 days a week and offers live music every Sunday.

The cellar at al Fiume is stocked with a diverse choice of Italian and South African wines. The selection includes everyday drinking wines and wines for special occasions; wines from some of South Africa's best-known estates and unusual wines from smaller estates.

al Fiume is a restaurant for all seasons: long, lazy summer days on the wooden deck; bright spring days when the first signs of green are starting to appear on the trees overhanging the river; bracing winter days when you might want to work off your meal with a brisk walk over the bridge and cozy autumn days when you can sit snugly in the restaurant and watch the falling leaves floating down the river.

Weddings
River Place Country Estate takes full advantage of the beautiful indigenous gardens, impressive mountain and river views, all combining to provide an idyllic wedding experience. Located in a magnificent river valley, the estate consists of 18 hectares of prime river-frontage and is conveniently located just minutes from both Fourways and Centurion.

The key to a wedding’s success is flexibility - River Place boasts several ceremony, reception and accommodation options, including the popular riverside al Fiume Restaurant (180-seater), the riverside River Lapa (100-seater), Mountain View Stone-clad Chapel (up to 180 guests), River View Stone-clad Chapel (up to 60 guests), our unique open-air Waterfall Cove Bush Venue (up to 180 guests) and 19 luxury air-conditioned chalets, several built from local stone.

The bridal couple will have the convenience of spending their wedding night in our bridal suite and to enjoy a heavenly breakfast and optional Spa Treatment the next morning before going on their way.
